PUBLIC VIEWING OF OPEN CLASS ENTRIES CANNOT BE ACCOMODATED THIS YEAR IN ACCORDANCE WITH COUNTY HEALTH PROTOCOL.

The Open Class departments of the Garfield County Fair give residents
the opportunity to brag and say, “See what I can do!” Adults and children
can enter in dozens of categories, ranging from cake decorating, cut
flowers and home canning, to quilting, wood carving and more.

Please see the following dates and times for drop off of your Open Class items;

Friday & Saturday, July 24 & 25
from 9 am to 3 pm

• Photography
• Art
• Quilting
• Needlework
• Crafts

Sunday & Monday, July 26 & 27
from 9 am to 6 pm

• All above, plus:
• Fruits
• Vegetables
• Noxious Weed Displays
• Food Preservation
• Fermentation
• Baked Goods

Pre-entries are due Thursday, July 16, 2020. Participants with more than 10 entries need to have submissions in by Thursday, July 16. Exhibits must be delivered to 1001 Railroad Ave., Rifle, CO., Garfield County Fairgrounds, South Hall.

The Open Class department will be working with Garfield County Public Health to ensure that all exhibits are displayed and only handled by individuals wearing proper attire for judging and displaying. Please watch the newspaper for dates and times for dropping of off your exhibits.

You may also submit a paper entry form by email, fax or mail (methods of submitting are listed at the bottom of the form).  If you’re feeling a little technology-challenged, please contact the CSU Extension office with your paper entry form at 970-625-3969.

Judging

Exhibits are judged on their own merit by a professional judge and ribbons are awarded accordingly.

First, second, and third place ribbons are awarded for each class if the articles deserve such merit.

Premiums are paid in each department.
Grand Champion – $10
Best of Fair – $6
First Place – $3
Second Place – $2
Third Place – $1
