Three acts highlight 2021 Garfield County Fair and Rodeo concert

Country stars Aaron Watson, Michael Ray and Chancey Williams set to perform July 30

GARFIELD COUNTY, CO – Good times, boot stompin’ and western dancing return to the Garfield County Fair and Rodeo this summer. The Friday night concert is back with three of country music’s brightest stars, Aaron Watson, Michael Ray and Chancey Williams, performing under starry skies and the shine of fairground lights in Rifle.

Reconnect to the community, visit with friends, sing, and dance with these country music sensations on Friday, July 30, at the Garfield County Fairgrounds. Williams starts the fun off at 6:30 p.m., followed by Ray at 8 p.m. and Watson at 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are on sale Monday, June 7, at 12 p.m., and concertgoers can check garfieldcountyfair.com for more information and to buy tickets. Any information related to potential COVID restrictions will be on the fair and rodeo website at the time of the event.

Watson a DIY country music success

Watson is the epitome of a do-it-yourself country artist, having hand-built a celebrated career through songwriting, relentless touring and producing more than a dozen self-released albums. His independent Texas spirit and strong work ethic are emblematic of the western lifestyle; virtues which have taken Watson from honky-tonks of Texas to multiple sold-out tours around the world.

Watson’s 2015 record The Underdog reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums, the first independent album to top that chart. His 2017 hit album Vaquero included a Billboard Top-10 single, “Outta Style,” which earned a BMI Millionaire award.

Rolling Stone called Watson “Texas country’s reigning indie underdog” and Forbes described the Amarillo native as “one of country music’s biggest DIY success stories.”

Ray a hit-making machine

Ray’s songs are about family and stories, history, and hope. This formula has served him well, manifesting in three Billboard No. 1 songs, including “Kiss You in the Morning,” “Think a Little Less,” and “One That Got Away.”

On his virtual series, Honkytonk Tuesdays, Ray plays his favorite 1980s and ‘90s tunes and has welcomed some of country music’s top stars, including Clint Black, Mark Wills, Aaron Tippin, and more. At just 33 years old, Ray already has five Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Gold-certified singles under his belt and a strong musical foundation to go with his legions of fans.

The Florida native’s video for “Her World or Mine,” off his second album Amos (2018), has nearly 25 million views on YouTube and the new hit single “Whiskey and Rain” has garnered 1.5 million views, along with more than 20 million streams, since last fall – proof that heartbroken wallowing can feel good if it swings.

From the rodeo to the stage, Williams is a true cowboy

Williams, a saddle bronc rider turned musician, has performed on center stage at major rodeos, festivals, and venues throughout the United States. He embodies the western lifestyle and is the first and only singer/songwriter to be endorsed by CINCH®. Williams’ new album, 3rd Street, debuted at No. 5 on the iTunes Country Albums chart.

He co-wrote eight of the album’s tracks, from the reminiscent throwback tune “College,” to upbeat anthems like “The World Needs More Cowboys” and “Tonight We’re Drinkin’,” to raw, stripped-down ballads like “Let It Go.”

In 2017, Chancey Williams and the Younger Brothers Band released Rodeo Cold Beer, which debuted at No. 7 on iTunes Country Albums Chart and earned the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Heatseekers Mountain chart.
