GARFIELD COUNTY, CO, Three appointments have been made to the Garfield County Fair Board, including the return of one longtime member and two new faces joining. Duston Harris has been reappointed to the board, and Lisa Stoeber and Brackett Pollard have come aboard for three-year terms.

Seven new applications and Harris’ reappointment request were received and presented to the Board of County Commissioners in late October.

“During my time on the board, I have worked diligently to contribute to the fair’s growth and improvement,” Harris wrote in his reappointment request. “I am passionate about serving our community and ensuring the fair remains an event that reflects the best of Garfield County’s agricultural heritage and spirit.”

A Rifle High School graduate, Pollard noted in his application that he would like to give back to his community and be involved with a board that has such a positive impact in Garfield County.

Stoeber stated in her application that she grew up in 4-H, which taught her about hard work and dedication. She later joined the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Sangre de Christo Chapter when she entered high school, and said it provided her with invaluable organizational and public speaking skills, as well as a deep excitement for the agricultural world.

“I want to thank everybody who has applied for the fair board,” said Commissioner Tom Jankovsky. “I’m glad that there’s this much interest in our fair board and the fair and rodeo. I encourage the other individuals who were not selected to continue with their volunteering and help us as much as possible with the fair. It’s greatly appreciated.”

“Everybody who applied was highly qualified in many different ways,” added Commissioner Mike Samson. “Please reapply in the future when we have vacancies.”

The appointments were approved unanimously, 2-0, with Commissioner John Martin excused.
